Yangzhou
Office Buildings and Malls
2Define Architecture

For a private consortium, the project is a 750,000 sq meters mutli-purpose building complex covering two blocks in a newly developed neighborhood of Yangzhou. Chinese plannification is indeed hard to apprehend : the target area is here larger than the Shanghai Tower (420 000 sqm) and the South Elevations combined are amost 800 meters long.
My Work was focused on the two similar south buildings, This part of the project consists of two office buidings over two levels of retail and a hotel tower at the East end. I designed the parking level (B-1), drew the plans of the ground floors, typical floors and roof top as well as the elevations.
These designs were then used to make the model and the 3D renderings (no 3D modeling was needed by the sub-contracted company).

The elevations are rythmed by a serie of terraces included on several floors.

The plan was designed using a simple structural system repeated as much as needed. The cores are alined on the north side of the buildings, joined with a technical terrace to support the air units. The distance between the cores corresponds to the maximun distance to an egress.
