The assignment consisted in designing a large number of housings in the old harbor of Antwerp using a systematic approach to design diversified and space efficient apartments.

My Response

The implantation of the project, design of the waterfront and the restoration of an existing building into an indoor market was performed in a group of three students.

The existing building opens a square and sets the scale for the project buildings. The apartments go from studios to four bedrooms. Mostly nested duplex, they are integrated in a 5,5 / 6,5m structural pattern and all have a terrace or a garden facing south.

The docks gives the occasion to create larger aparments overlooking the waterfont.
