Office Tower and Mall

2Define Architecture

The project was a contest for an office tower of 95,000 square meters and 230 meter height attached to a mall that would connect the overpasses coming from the surrounding blocks.

Even though the project was a contest, the were still information going back and forth between the client and the agency regarding the general shape of the tower as well as the caracteristics of the mall. All data regarding the contest are gathered in the table below.

My work is detailed in the following.

My Work was to design the first drafts of the ground and underground floors plans in order to create a good connection between the base of the tower, the subway station and the north access, and the structure coming up from the parking level.

I also worked on the design of the core, to make it compact and efficient, then on its evolution following the elevation of the tower. The design of the core it dictated by the use of the four groups of elevator shafts that serve four differents zones in the building. As the shafts drops, additional space becomes available for other uses.

I then worked on different layouts for the tower plans in order to estimate the floor capacity in different configurations and allow the client to project himself into the floor plan and apprehend the capacity of the lease span.
